About AdBorder
Hi, I'm Lena. I'm a visual content creator and photographer, and I built AdBorder because I kept running into the same problem: I needed to add borders to my photos for social media, but every tool I tried either required an account, charged money, added a watermark, or uploaded my images to their servers. None of those tradeoffs made sense for something as simple as adding a white border.
How AdBorder Started
In early 2026, I was managing social media for a small creative project and needed to add consistent white borders to dozens of photos every week. I tried Photoshop actions, Canva templates, and a handful of online tools. Photoshop was overkill for a border. Canva required a subscription for batch work. The free online tools all had catches — watermarks, resolution limits, or they uploaded my photos to their servers.
So I decided to build my own. The first version of AdBorder was a weekend project: a single HTML file that could add a white border to an image using the Canvas API. It was ugly, but it worked. I shared it with a few friends who were also creating content, and they started using it too. Then their friends started using it. Within a month I realized I had something worth building properly.
Why Privacy Matters
When I started building AdBorder, I made one non-negotiable rule: your photos never leave your device. All image processing happens in your web browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. No uploads. No server storage. No tracking pixels on your images. When you close the tab, everything is gone.
This wasn't just a technical decision — it was a personal one. As a photographer, I would never want someone else's tool to have copies of my work without my explicit consent. I built AdBorder the way I would want every tool to treat my data.
Why It's Free (and Always Will Be)
Every feature on AdBorder is completely free with no limits. No premium tiers, no usage caps, no watermarks. I support the tool through non-intrusive advertising, which covers hosting costs and keeps the lights on. I believe that useful tools should be accessible to everyone, regardless of budget.
What I Write About
On the AdBorder blog, I share what I've learned about image optimization, social media content strategy, visual storytelling, and photography. Every article is based on my own experience creating content for years and helping other creators improve their visual presence. I write the guides I wish I'd had when I was starting out.
Our Values
